My background
Born in Milton Keynes, I started out my movement journey through martial arts; being trained by Lawrence Elcock in Shotokan Karate to the level of 2nd Dan Black Belt gave a rigorous understanding of both movement and discipline.
I went on to read Experimental Psychology at the University of Oxford, where I swapped the Karate Gi for a rowing lycra. I continued endurance sports throughout the beginnings of my career (triathlons, London Marathon, endurance cycling etc) but accidentally found yoga in 2016 on a holiday to Thailand. I was hooked and haven't stopped practicing since - completing my first teacher training in 2020 (with Marcus Veda, Hannah Whittingham & Christian Di Giorgio) and now amassing c. 500 hours of RYS accredited teacher training across mixed modalities.
My corporate life is supported by a regular personal yoga & spiritual practice, which has been instrumental in providing the stamina and level-headedness to succeed. I firmly believe those who devote what little free time they have to bettering themselves will always succeed over those who burn the candle at both ends.
What to expect
4Beat Yoga
The 4Beat practice, and its creator Marcus Veda, have been a core part of my life since 2017. 4Beat is a dynamic vinyasa flow class created by Marcus and born out of the Rocket Yoga system. The core of the practice is the alignment of the breath to the slow, regular beat of the music. Focusing the mind and the breath on a 4 beat count leads to a sharp, single-pointed and unwavering ability to concentrate. You will find yourself completely immersed in a state of synchronous moving meditation.
Sound Healing
Beginning with RPK breathwork to ground, we transition into a guided Advaita meditation supported by the sound of 7 crystal singing bowls. You are welcomed back from your adventure with some wistful handpan music.
Stretch & Reset
Structured full body proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation ("PNF") stretching class. Designed to give you the tool to build your own personal mobility practice.
Meditation & Breathwork
We practice three breathwork techniques (RPK, Kapalabhati and Shamanic breath) with a guided Advaita mediation between each round. There are plenty of bolsters, blankets, and eyebags - it is essentially adult nap time.
